We then travelled to Belgium where we visited, Zonnerbeke museum, Essex farm. Langermark cemetery, Tyne cot cemetery, Cloth hall museum, the Last post at Meningate, Talbot house, Shot at dawn cells, Hill 64, and Hooge crater. There was a show on in the centre of Ypres both evenings which we were able to watch whilst we chilled with a drink ate our evening meals. We stayed at the hotel Regina which also in the centre of Ypres.
We then set off for the Somme and our usual stay at Mash valley B&b.
Of course our first visit after lunch at Tommy's bar was Lochnagar crater followed by Thiepval cemetery, Albert and the golden Madonna and into Albert museum, our evening was spent at Tommy's bar with Brian, Linda, Chloe and Kiera we all had dinner and a drink for Trevor's birthday.
During our second day on the Somme we visited Newfoundland park, Blighty cafe for lunch various cemetery's and finally Delville wood,our day ended with a lovely barbecue back at Mash Valley.
Two places we would have liked to taken them was Varlet farm where we normally stay in Belgium and The Poppy cafe on the Somme [which was closed for holidays]. Maybe next time .........
