Gambia update

Eighty one days to go.....today we all payed for our flights, [our accommodation is separate] i have been the one responsible for the bookings.

Janeen who runs/owns the company is returning next week to lay a headstone for her mother who lived over there and died suddenly less than a year ago. Her mum lived over there with her eight year old son and daughter doing charity work.

I told Janeen about our fund raising efforts and intentions and apparently Julie the owner of Luigi's is very involved and a very good contact to have. [I also have a couple of other 'safe contacts' ensuring that we get the most out of the money for the children that we can.]

We are in the process of obtaining a charity number which amongst other things will enable us to take 20 to 30 kilo's of luggage free for the Gambians with us.

Being in contact with Julie will speed up me being able to find two children to sponsor that would never have the chance to go to school otherwise. It's also only £10.00 a month to provide a family with rice for a full month and Julie also knows of families who really need this help.

I have made contact with a wing walking company but reading through their terms and conditions they do not allow wing walking for charity. My sister and myself are really disappointed as we have a lot of people offering to sponsor us....so we are looking for something equally 'hair raising'.

Above are the two schools we are aiming to help maintain and repair, and as you can see a few of the children that attend the wooden one. We also intend to buy uniforms for children who would otherwise not be able to attend. We already have contributions of pens and pencils which are always in short supply.

For the next couple of years Vicki and Trev won't be able to go with us due to other commitments, so we will be going alone to take the money etc., that we will all continue to raise. We are hoping to return for the new year celebrations.

Our next car boot will be sometime in February.
