Angela's Garden

Angela's garden is a garden of rememberance which can be found on the Somme, at Lochnagar crater.[www.friendsoflochnagar.co.uk]..... A memorial seat can be found at the far side of the crater, it is a lovely quiet spot where it is hoped an English garden can be developed. One that not only attracts visitors to the crater but also attracts birds and butterflys. The crater is very high up and open, catching the worst and best of all weathers. Anything planted needs to be hardy as well as attractive. Our visits to the crater are spread across the year, so I hope to catch interesting photo's of the garden developng and changing with the seasons then post them on my blog.... Any suggestions/advice would be welcome..... A tree from Arnham has already been planted, and one of the 'friends' will be adding to the garden during his next visit in rememberance of a relative killed during the Falklands war. I hope this gives you an insight...and that you will visit the website. The crater and its July 1st ceremony, remembering those who fought and fell during this battle are very important to us. As well as the special friends we have made and the people of many nationalities, backgrounds and ages that talk to us as we work around the crater.
