From as far back as I can remember I have been active.
At school I was in the school netball team, playing both for my year and also for the year above.
I enjoyed tennis, swimming, gymnastics and always came joint first in the hurdles.
At home skipping, tennis, swimming and many games that involved running.
My nursing career has always involved many hours of walking as well as in the early days lots of physical strength was required to lift and move patients.
When I realised I was gaining "puppy fat" around the age of 13yrs what I ate became a big part of my life.....which more became what I shouldn't eat!!
[I am hoping the following photo's appear in order on my blog.]
Starting at the age of five then as a teenager followed by photo's taken after each of four children.
At this point I have chosen photo's of how I looked after my fourth child followed by a photo of me after losing weight and then one of how I looked once I Joined a gym.
I was 26/27 when I first joined a gym up to that point I had always swam with my children played with my children, worked, decorated the home, cooked, baked, knit garments and made clothing for my children.
After the birth of my first child I was shocked at the weight that remained, I tried exercise at home until I found a local gym which later led to aerobics, step classes, circuit training, swimming, jogging, tennis, badminton and much loved games of squash.....life was very busy especially when the boys started playing rugby and needed to attend training in the week and games on a weekend...somehow I managed to balance all of the above with work, housework and study at college.
The one thing I wasn't so sensible with was diet and at times became too thin through worry of gaining weight, I was mostly very strict about what I allowed!! myself to eat and drink.
My final photo is taken after my fifth child, Jade was born [ten years later].....life for everyone at home changed. Where possible I included exercise in my life however it wasn't so easy and at times I would take Jade with me.
I had started fund raising when the boys began playing rugby and was elected main fund raiser for the club they attended. When Jade was born I used this experience to raise money initially for Jade so she could attend a special support centre at Somerset later this progressed to raising money for various special needs therapists/charities and later the special needs school Jade attended.
It's fourteen years since losing Jade as well as a roller coaster of emotions.
Diet and exercises went through the window eventually I gained weight. I would dip in and out of various exercise including further along wii fit..getting up at four in the morning exercising for an hour prior to work.
I had re married and as the weight reduced a holiday would always follow....many holidays and breaks my husband loves to travel....
We became involved in voluntary work ..initially LOCHNAGAR CRATER found on the Somme battlefields and much later JOFI a school in Africa we became involved with.
I again looked at ways of raising money. Last year I found the confidence to join a gym and found it still had the wow factor for me, I was very nervous and told them that my fear was not the training it was more about dealing with memories and emotions....they were very supportive and offered allow my membership to be cancelled if I was unable to continue.
Luckily my confidence grew, my health started to improve and I started a challenge to raise money...... I was really pleased with myself when I became unwell with pneumonia!!!!
A year later I am back.... I have no photo of how I look at the moment to blog as I avoid/delete photo's. I hope you will enjoy my posts follow my progress.......
