This year we chose to go to The Gambia for four weeks rather than two. The aim was to find the school/land we have been hoping to find.
We booked immediately we returned last year. Later in the year My sister contacted me to tell us they had booked to go the middle two weeks, which was great.
I left for The Gambia thinking i had the charity workers number with me, but having changed my phone realised all of the numbers had not transferred.
The first few days were spent relaxing after working far too many hours. We also waited for a return email with the phone number we needed.
We both read quite a lot those first few days, and went out for meals. Throughout the holiday it was too hot to sun bathe. Not that i minded because i try to stay in the shade when possible.
Once Vicki, Trev, Lynne and Wayne arrived we spent a lot of time with them. Vicki's room was next to a couple's who are very involved with schooling and sponsorship. At one of the bars where we all ate and played pool etc., there was an office for another group of charity workers. For some reason they did not feel as though they were what i was looking for.
Two weeks past we went on camels, sea fishing twice, we also went on a safari in Senegal[which meant using a ferry...note the ferry!!]
It was really strange to wave vicki and Trev off, but a relief to them because of the people around us that had been affected by the volcanic ash.
The same evening Vicki left we were discussing our attempts to contact Petra the charity worker. It was suggested to us that what we had said we were hoping to do we may benefit from meeting Fiona. That happened the following day on the Sunday and the following four days began to be very busy as mentioned in my last post.
Thought for today:-
