I thought i would capture a little of our garden for my blog today...it's been a while since i posted anything to do with the garden.
The garden needs quality time. We have been so busy with work and the house etc., as well as our travels, that the garden hasn't had the attention it should. Vin has done really well and has started growing tomatoes, cucumber peppers etc mainly ones that can be grown in pots outside. He also has quite a few things growing in the greenhouse.
Lovely flowers have appeared that we weren't expecting, but we need quite a lot more. Vin's eldest grandson Karl has just finished college and bless him is trying very hard to get work or an apprenticeship. he visits regularly and helps in the gardens, we would be lost without him at the moment.
Today is the 65Th anniversary of D Day which has been quite controversial this year. We attended the 60Th anniversary which i found to be very moving. The weather was scorching when we were there but today it's raining very heavily.
Meeting and talking with the 'vets' makes it even more memorable. We were invited to attend with friends this year which we would have loved to have done, but we had already fully commited ourselves this year. I have added a photo of the group of us taken just before we set off to an underground hospital in Jersey built during the second world war. The plane trip was a suprise paid for by Tony and his wife Jilly who live in Portsmouth.
We also have friends who now live in Normandy who invited us to take part in re-enactments with them today...we would have really liked to do this so maybe will do it another year. We will be meeting up with them on the Somme at the end of this month for the July 1st anniversary commemorations and hopefully will be able to get info and photo's from them for me to post on here when we return.
Thought for today:-
"To be always intending to live a new life, but never find time to set about it - this is as if a man should put off eating and drinking from one day to another till he be starved and destroyed."
Walter Scott [1771-1832], Scotland
